Desiré Aba-Mwishogwa Chibikwa

Désiré Aba‑Mwishogwa Chibikwa is a magistrate and an expert in human rights and environmental law at the National Ministry of Human Rights of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is also a lecturer‑researcher at the Université Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs (ULPGL/Bukavu) and a former lawyer registered with the South Kivu Bar.

He holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law and a Master’s degree in Political Science, and is currently completing his doctoral thesis in Political Science, focused on the challenges of environmental diplomacy in Sub‑Saharan Africa. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Public Law from the Université Officielle de Bukavu, a Master’s in International Law from the University of Douala (Cameroon), and a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Dschang (Cameroon).

Recognized as a Young Champion for Environmental Protection (WWF South Kivu), he gained international distinction by participating in the 38th edition of the Jean‑Pictet Competition in Durrës, Albania. His research focuses on international law, human rights, environmental governance, and climate negotiations, with a particular interest in the preservation of the Congo Basin forests.
