Syaharani

Syaharani is a climate and just transition policy specialist based in Indonesia. She is
currently working as a climate and energy researcher at Greenpeace Southeast Asia, Indonesia and assisting the Institute of Human Rights and Business (IHRB) in their work on just transition in Indonesia.

Previously, she was the Head of Climate and Decarbonization at the Indonesian Center for Environmental Law, Indonesia’s leading environmental law organization based in Jakarta. She has been involved in conducting legal and policy research supporting various policy development processes and civil society initiatives in the field, aimed at strengthening environmental and energy governance including by participating in the Just Transition Working Group under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and in the development of Indonesia’s first climate bill. She piloted ICEL’s flagship I-LEAD (hyperlink to i-lead.icel.or.id) platform, which hosts Indonesia’s first landmark environmental case database and delivers climate legal capacity-building programs for judges, public interest lawyers, and academics. Currently, Syaharani also serves as a Strategic Committee member of Carbon Market Integrity strategy at the Forest, People, and Climate (FPC) Initiative and Indonesia Rapporteur for Corporate Climate Litigation at BIICL. She has been engaging in the Sabin Network as the Indonesia rapporteur since 2021.
